Emulsion :- A colloidal system in which both the dispersed phase and and dispersion medium are liquid is called emulsion.
(I) oil in water emulsion :- water is dispersion medium while oil is the dispersed phase. Water is present in excess.
Ex :- vanishing face cream.
(II) water in oil emulsion :- oil is dispersion medium and water is dispersed phase. Oil is present in excess
Ex- cold liver oil
- Several oily drugs, injection etc. Are prepared in form of emulsion.
- Shampoo, nail polish, lipistick etc. Are all emulsion.
- The digestion of fats in the intestines takes place by the process of emulsification.
