The endoplasmic reticulum is a type of organelle found in eukaryotic cells that forms an interconnected network of flattened, membrane-enclosed sacs or tube-like structures known as cisternae

souvikmandal: Endoplasmic reticulam is a cell organelles (both) which is connected with nucleus and Golgi body ,helps to protene synthesis. E.R ar two types 1.Ralph endoplasmic reticulam,2.smooth endoplasmic reticulam.

Hi.

Here is your answer---

___________________

Endoplasmic Reticulum is the Interconnected system of double membrane- lined channels distributed over the entire cytoplasm.

Endoplasmic Reticulum is of two main types---

~Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum
~Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum.

~Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum
The Endoplasmic Reticulum that does not bear Ribosomes is called as Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum. It is called ''Rough'' because number of ribosomes gives it a rough appearance.
It is very well developed in Plasma cells, Fibroblasts and Goblet Cells.

~Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum
It does not bear Ribosomes. This is found in Liver cells and Muscles cells.

Functions---

1 - It gives rigidity to the Cells and hence acts as a Skeletal Frame work of the cells.

- It helps in inter cellular transport, hence it is also known as Circulatory System of the Cells.
