QUESTION -

What is Endothermic reaction?

ANSWER -

Definition :-

An endothermic reaction absorbs energy; in endothermic reactions, heat is a reactant.

Example:

When a liquid turns into a gas, it must absorb sufficient energy to overcome the intermolecular forces in order for the particles to escape into the gas phase.

Consider this reaction:

H2O (L) + 2260 joules ==> H2O (g)

the notations represented as (L) and (g) show the state of water as liquid or gas.

Note: joules is the measurement of heat energy.
