The capacity of an object to do work is called energy.Its SI unit is joule.energy possessed by an object by virtue of its motion is called kinetic energy.

when we applied force in any body , due to force body is displaced .now product of force and displacement of a body is called work.

it's si unit is joule (kgm^2/sec^2)
now energy:- there are many type of energy exist in nature . but in which most important are kinetic and potential energy .
kinetic energy :- 1/2mv^2
where n is mass and v is speed of object
potential energy:- mgh
where n is mass , g is acceleration due to gravity and h is height of object from ground level .
you see both energy have same unit
e.g kgm^2/s^2
in this reason other unit e.g joule also same
