Back in the 19th century, the laborers were fully deprived of their basic rights and were not given them the equitable resources of livelihood. Therefore, the plantation workers had some personal grudges with the government and owners.

This inappropriate behavior of government towards worked made them rebellious. However, in 1859, an act was passed known as the "Inland emigration act". According to this, the workers were fully bound to their duty and they were not able to go out without permission.
