For example :- Campfire.

Answer:

It is a measure of disorder of molecules (or) randomness of a system.

  • It is a state function and extensive property.
  • It is denoted by S.
  • Change in entropy ΔS= q(rev)/T
  • For any isolated system,  ΔS(total) = ΔS(system) + ΔS(surrounding)
  • For any spontaneous reaction, ΔS = '+' ve (but not necessary)

           ∴ ΔS(total) = ΔS(system) + ΔS(surrounding)

Ex: Camphor
