Environmental pollution means the presence in or introduction into the environment of a substance which has harmful or poisonous effects. Environmental Pollution occurs when pollutants contaminate the surroundings; which brings about changes that affect our normal lifestyles adversely. The various types of pollution affecting the locality are: air pollution and noise pollution.
Air pollution: It is the most prevalent and dangerous form of pollution especially considered to go hand in hand with urbanization. There are many reasons to it. Primary among these is the excessive fuel combustion which has become a basic necessity for cooking, transport and other industrial activities.
Noise pollution: It is caused when a noise which is of higher intensity than 85 db reaches our bare ears. It may lead to psychological problems like stress & hypertension. It can also lead to permanent hearing impairment, which is worse. It is mainly caused by loud pumps and compressors in the chemical industries.
What is environmental pollution? Discuss in brief the various types of pollution affecting your locality.
Environmental pollution has existed for centuries but only started to be significant following the industrial revolution in the 19th century. Pollution occurs when the natural environment cannot destroy an element without creating harm or damage to itself.
The elements involved are not produced by nature, and the destroying process can vary from a few days to thousands of years (that is, for instance, the case for radioactive pollutants).
**In other words, pollution takes place when nature does not know how to decompose an element that has been brought to it in an unnatural way.
