Epithelial cells may be squamous, cuboidal or columnar in shape and may be arranged in single or multiple layers.Its features:-Functions of epithelial cells include secretion, selective absorption,protection,transecullar transport and sensing.Epithelial layers contain no blood vessels,so they must receive nourishment via diffusion of substances from the underlaying connective tissue, through the basement membrane.
