Equilibrium, in physics, the condition of a system when neither its state of motion nor its internal energy state tends to change with time. For a single particle, equilibrium arises if the vector sum of all forces acting upon the particle is zero.

Answer:

When the net force acting on a body is zero..... Then the body is said to be in equilibrium

For example :

A Bob is suspended with the heel of a string......

It is in equilibrium as the weight (force) of the body is balanced by the tension in string....

Hence the net force is zero... And the bob remains in equilibrium..

Hope it helps you
