What is equilibrium??
What is mean by this statement

"The crest is that region of the medium which is raised above the equilibrium position of the particle of the medium "

Please FRIENDS HELP ME TO UNDERSTAND THIS LINE AND
GIVE ME THE MEANING OF THIS LINE GIVEN ABOVE

Equilibrium is the state of any body where it is acted upon equal amount of quantities like forces,motion.....it is in state of no motion thus the body is in equilibrium.....

The crest is is upper raised displacement of any particle from the line of axis passing between the consecutive crest and troughs...actually at line of axis the particles comes to its original or mean position thus at that point it is not in any displacement it's movement is zero thus it at equilibrium condition...
