The time when vertical rays of the sun is received by the equator and two oles ( north & south) remain equidistant from the sun is called Equinox.

At this time The whole Earth experiences Equal day and night.

There are two types of equinox discussed below

Vernal equinox: the equinox in spring, on about 20 March in the northern hemisphere and 22 September in the southern hemisphere.

Autumnal equinox: the equinox in autumn, on about 22 September in the northern hemisphere and 20 March in the southern hemisphere.
