We full from is endoplasmic reticulum. The two types of ER is smooth endoplasmic reticulum and rough endoplasmic reticulum

Functions

It is mainly responsible for the transportation of proteins and other carbohydrates to another organelle, which includes lysosomes, Golgi apparatus, plasma membrane, etc.

They provide the increased surface area for cellular reactions.

hope may help you ☺️

Answer:

Depending upon the nature of its membrane, endoplasmic reticulum is of two types, smooth and rough.

Smooth endoplasmic reticulum is associated with the production and metabolism of fats and steroid hormones. It is smooth because it is not studded with ribosomes and is associated with smooth slippery fats.

Rough endoplasmic reticulum is involved in some protein production, protein folding, quality control and despatch. It is called rough because it is studded with ribosomes.

Endoplasic reticulum (ER) is made of a network or reticulum of tiny tubular structures that is found attached to the outer nuclear membrane of the Eukaryotic cells. ER is composed of three

types of membranous structures with different shapes; Cisternae (long, flat and unbranched), Vesicles (round or ovoid) and Tubules (tubular and irregularly branched)

Depending upon the presence of ribosomes on their outer surface, ER can be of two types; Rough endoplasmic reticulum (RER) which harbours ribosomes on its surface and Smooth endoplasmic reticulum (SER) which is devoid of any ribosomes.

Both RER and SER form the skeletal network that supports the cell and are involved in the synthesis of nuclear membrane during cell division

RER with the ribososomes is mainly involved in the protein synthesis while the SER is mainly involved in lipid and steroid synthesis.
