what is essence of secularism
Answers
Answer:
Secularism argues for a sphere of knowledge, values, and action that is independent of religious authority, but it does not automatically exclude religion from having authority when it comes to political and social matters. Secularization, in contrast, is a process which does involve such exclusion
Explanation:
According to the Constitution , the key elements of secularism in India are as follows :-
1. All religions are equal before law .
2. The Indian State does not have an official religion . This can be interpreted that India is a non religious State , and that all religions are equal. This means that government buildings like courts , police stations, government offices and government schools cannot display or promote any one religion.
Secondly , in order to respect the sentiments of all religions and to uphold the interest of certain sections of the society , the Indian government does make certain exceptions and intervene in some religious practices .
