Answer:

Esterification is the reaction between a carboxylic acid and alcohol to produce sweet smelling liquids known as Esters. Esters are used in perfumes, cosmetics etc.

The formula is as follows,

CH3COOH + C2H5OH -----> CH3COOC2H5-(ester)

With NaOH ester is converted back to sodium salt of carboxylic acid and alcohol. The reaction -

CH3COOC2H5 + NaOH -----> CH3COONA + C2H5OH

Hope this helps!!!
