Estuaries are a partially enclosed coastal body of brackish water with one or more rivers or streams flowing into it,and are a free connection to open sea.They are subjected both to marine influences such as tides,waves& the influx of saline water & to riverine influences such as flows of fresh water & sediments.

Estuaries are important natural places which provide goods and services that are ergonomically and ecologically important for us. They provide vital nesting and feeding habitats for many aquatic plants and animals. Thus they are suitable for both marine and River fish to live.
