Ethanol Acid Is ethanoic acid

This is a carboxylic acid;

A carboxylic acid is of the form

R-COOH

Ethanol is a 2 carbon alcohol

It is Ethane attached to a hydroxyl

C_2 H_6 - OH

when oxidised the hydroxyl substituent is replaced by a carboxyl
 we get

C_2 H_6 - COOH
