HEYA..!!!
Ethanol is mainly ethyl-alcohol(C2H5OH). It is also called as simply alcohol.It is mainly a compound which consists of an insoluble hydrocarbon part (C2H5) and a soluble part(OH)...and due to this, it is soluble in water in any proportion.100% pure ethanol is also known as rectified spirit.
Properties :--
It is highly flammable in nature.
it has a pleasent smell and a burning taste.
When heated at 443 K with excess conc. sulphuric acid ethanol dehydrates to form ethene along with water.
CH3CH2OH-----(Hot conc. H2SO4)------->> C2H4 + H2O
hope it helps... :)
