Euclid proposed a postulate that is proved to be universally true for any solid shape .

which was given by

No of faces + No of vertices = No of edges + 2

for example to verify this I take the shape cube,

No of faces = 6
No of vertices = 8
No of edges = 12

LHS = No of faces + No of vertices
= 6+8
= 14

RHS = No of edges + 2
= 12+2
= 14.

therefore
LHS = RHS
hence this formula has been verified and it is true for any solid shape.
