The term “eu” means “true/complete” and “karyon” means “nucleus”. Thus the name “Eukaryotes” is given to all organisms with true nucleus. It is a cell in which the genetic material is present within a well defined nucleus. The genetic material is in the form of many chromosomes inside the nucleus. It's cytoplasm contains a number of membrane bound organelles like mitochondria, choloroplasts, etc. Each organelle present performs a specific function.

Eg. Eukaryotic cells occur in plants, animals, fungi and protozoa.
