Eutrophication, or hypertrophication, is when a body of water becomes overly enriched with minerals and nutrients which induce excessive growth of plants and algae. This process may result in oxygen depletion of the water body.

eutrophication is that biological process in which the fertilizers which is put in the Greenfields it's drain into river which increase the growth of algae which is present in the surface of water this makes the water contaminated means not allowing a oxygen to enter into the river this makes marine life harsh hope this may help you
