When fertilisers used in farms are washed away to water bodies, leading to the growth of algae. When these algae die, the bacteria in water try to decompose it. A lot of oxygen is used up in this process, leading to oxygen shortage. This leads to the death of aquatic plants present inside the water body. This process is known as Eutrophication.
