Except is usually used as a preposition or conjunction, which means not including.

For example:

"I teach every day except Sundays."

Expect is a verb, which we use when we think something is likely to happen, or someone is likely to do or be something in particular.

To except is defined as to leave out someone or something when you include everything else.Except is usually used as a preposition or conjunction

eg:  "they work every day except Sunday"

It means they work everyday other than Sunday

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To expect is to think that something will probably or certainly happen. To believe that (someone or something) will arrive soon.

eg: I don't expect him to fix it

It means I did not believe he would fix it
