Exothermic reaction

An exothermic reaction is defined as a reaction that releases heat and has a net negative standart enthalpy change

e.g=> Rusting of iron

Endothermic reaction

A chemical reaction in which heat is absorbed is called endothermic reaction

e.g=> when nitrogen and oxygen together are heated to a temperature of about 3000°C, nitric oxide gas is formed.
