Nikola Tesla was an Electrical and mechanical engineer. He gave the design for today's most predominantly used A.C. (Alternating Current) electric system. He also gave Tesla Coil which is used in Radio technology.
So, we can conclude that he explained the modern theory of Alternating current and the unit Tesla has also come from his name.

how you can say that this is a tesla coil
In a Transformer, we have 2 coils - Primary coil and secondary coil. When A.C. current is passed through primary coil, emf is induced in secondary coil. This is based on Resonance principle as said by Tesla. These transformers are used to Step up or Step down A.C. voltage and are widely used in Television and radio technology.
There are 2 coils in the transformer and because they were invented by Tesla we call them as Tesla coil.
