The type of combustion that occur suddenly in which light, heat, sound and a large amount of gases are released is known as explosion.

Example : bursting of firecrackers

Now, three types of combustion

1. Rapid combustion :-

The type of combustion in which a large amount of heat and light is released in a very short span of time is known as rapid combustion.
Examples : burning of a piece of paper.

2. Spontaneous combustion :-

The type of combustion in which substances burst into flames without the application of heat is known as spontaneous combustion.
Examples : burning of phosphorus used in the making of matchsticks.

3. Complete combustion :-

The type of combustion that takes place in a sufficient amount of oxygen is known as complete combustion. The products obtained during combustion are water, carbon dioxide, heat and light.
Example : burning of petrol kerosene diesel.
