when the vapours of sodium is passed through NaCl the Na attached to the suface attracts Cl and Cl comes to the the surface and leave the centre of the lattice the vacancy of empty space which Cl is left is filled by electrons of chlorine.These electrons impart different colours and give colour to salts
e.g. NaCl yellow colour
LiCl pink colour
