According to sociologists, family is literally a group of people who are blood relatives, they stay under the same roof and share the same kitchen.

Major differences in families in rural and industrial areas are as follows:

1. Mostly joint families are found in rural areas, whereas nuclear families,

in industrial areas.

2. Most of the times in rural areas the family members are all involved in same type of occupation (eg Farming), or the entire family owns one business in which all the family members are involved (known as cottage industry) (eg making and selling pickles), whereas in Industrial areas, different Family members tend to have different professions and occupations .

3. Mostly in rural areas the families are more closely bound with each other and are co dependent for support, financial or otherwise. In industrial areas, the families don't have very close relationships unless it is for the immediate family (mother, father and the children), extended family members (aunts/uncles/cousins) can be seen as an interference.

4. Due to the norms of the rural areas, children can be more well behaved and respectful towards the elders. While the opposite can be seen in the industrial areas.

Hope it helps!
