Basically FCI main functions are: procurement of the food grains as per msp, preservation of the procured stock, movement of food grains from procurement states to deficient states as per requirement.
the main functions of Food Corporation of India -
1) To protect interest of farmer by procuring food grains at MSP.
2) To protect consumers from too much price fluctuation deu to crop failure or any other reason.
3) To maintain minimum buffer stock so that any unforseen situation can be met with this stock .
4) Preservation of food grains because no one other than the FCI has the ability or mandate to store and preserve such wast quantity of food grains .
5) To transport food grains from surplus production areas to deficit areas so that accessibility to the food can be ensured through out India.
