Types of fermentation:-

There are 3 types of fermentation.

  • Lactic acid fermentation. .
  • Ethanol fermentation or alcohol fermentation.
  • Acetic acid fermentation.

Example of fermentation:-

→ When grapes are crushed and transferred into a press. Then, the cultured yeast is added and the sugars in the grapes start to convert into alcohol. Hence, this is an example of fermentation.

→ Basically it is a metabolic process in which an organism converts a carbohydrate in absence of oxygen such as starch or a sugar, into an alcohol or an acid.

→ Yeast perform fermentation to obtain energy by converting sugar into alcohol.

  • Ethanol fermentation.
  • Acetic acid fermentation.

★ Basically fermentation makes the foods easier to digest and the nutrients easier to assimilate. In effect, much of the work of digestion is done for us.
