☞ Ferrite ☜

  • Ferrite is an interstitial solid solution in which carbon is dissolved in α-Fe, and is commonly indicated by the symbol F.

It has a body-centered cubic lattice, and its carbon-dissolving ability is very low. It can only dissolve 0.0008% of carbon at room temperature, and its maximum carbon-dissolving ability is 0.02% at 727 ℃.

  • It is called ferrite or α solid solution, and is denoted by α or F. α is often used in the annotation of phase icons, and F is often used in the text. The austenite of the subeutectoid component forms ferrite by pre-eutectoid precipitation.

☞ Morphological composition ☜

The ferrite grain boundary is smooth, and twins or slip lines are rarely seen in the crystal. The color is light green, bright, and dark after deep corrosion. Ferrite in steel exists in the form of flakes, lumps, needles and nets.

A part of ferrite is called pro-eutectoid ferrite or structurally free ferrite. According to the different formation conditions, the pre-eutectoid ferrite has different forms, such as equi-axed, along-crystal, spindle-shaped, zigzag and needle-shaped. Ferrite is also the matrix of pearlite structure. In the hot-rolled ( normalized ) and annealed structures of carbon steel and low-alloy steel , ferrite is the main constituent phase; the composition and structure of ferrite have an important influence on the process performance of steel. The use performance also has an impact.

Carbon dissolves into δ-Fe to form interstitial solid solution , which has a body-centered cubic lattice structure. Because of the high temperature, it is called high temperature ferrite or δ solid solution, which is expressed by δ and exists above 1394 ℃

  • The maximum amount of dissolved carbon is at 1495 ℃. The mass fraction of carbon is 0.09%.

Explain

A ferrite is a ceramic material mixing and firing of large portion of iron ( III ) Oxide( Fe2O3 , rust ) blended with small portion of one or more additional metallic elements , such as barium, Magnese, nickel and zinc..hard ferrites have high coercivity, So they are different to dimangetise....

Ferrite compounds are extremely low cost , being made up of Mostly Rusted Iron ( iron oxide ) and have excellent corrosion resistance. They are very stable and difficult to magnetize, and can be made up of both high and low coercive forces. Yogoro Kato and takeshi takei of Tokyo Institute Of Technology synthesised the first ferrite compounds in 1930....
