fertilization is the fusion of male and female cells ( gametes) to produce a single cell(zygote)
eg - in lily, the male ( stamen) pollen dust is carried to the stigma( female) when they both mature.. then the pollen forms a tube called the pollen tube and reaches the ovary.. where the eggs( female gamete are ) ... it combines with the eggs to form a single cell(zygote) which becomes a seed as the flower becomes a fruit...
