Answer

Fertilisation : the action or process of fertilizing an egg or a female animal or plant, involving the fusion of male and female gametes to form a zygote.

Fertilization takes place when a single sperm fuses with the ovum in the oviduct. The fertilized ovum or the zygote, travels down the oviduct and reaches uterus. The zygote gets implanted into the uterus wall and develops to form a human embryo.

Answer

The process of combining the male gamete with female gamete is known as fertilization.

Fertilization works when a woman's egg and man's sperm fuse to form a single cell.
