Answer:

Fertilization is the fusion of haploid gametes, egg and sperm, to form the diploid zygote. Note though there can be subtle differences in the fertilization process which occurs naturally within the body or through reproductive technologies outside the body, the overall product in both cases is a diploid zygote. In fertilization research, after humans, the mouse is the most studied species followed by domestic and farm animals. The process of fertilization involves components of, and signalling between, both sperm (spermatozoa) and egg (oocyte).

In addition to in vivo fertilization, there are many new in vitro technologies related to human infertility (Assisted Reproductive Technology) and animal production somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT) to generate a zygote.

Answer:

⚫Fertilization is usually known as the fusion of male gamete and female gamete to form a zygote.

⚫Here, the male gametes is sperm and female gamete is ovum.

⚫There are two types of fertilisation:- External fertilisation and Internal fertilisation.

⚫External fertilization takes place outside the body of female and internal fertilization takes place inside the body of female.

⚫During fertilization, the head of the sperm fertilize with ovum with its head first.

⚫Only one sperm reacts with ovum among millions of other sperms.

⚫The next stage of zygote is embryo.

⚫After being embryo, the body parts start developing and an organism is formed.
