  • the process of syngamy (=fusion) of male and female gamete is known as fertilization by the result of which formation of a diploid zygote takes place. It is an important event of sexual reproduction. In the simple way fertilization is a process where involving sperm fusing with an ovum.

  • External fertilization takes place in outside the body i.e in water, e.g. fish and frog but internal fertilization takes place within of organisms. It happens in the female body. Mammal, birds and reptile use internal fertilization.
