Fertilisation or fertilization, also known as generative fertilisation, insemination, pollination, fecundation, syngamy and impregnation, is the fusion of gametes to initiate the development of a new individual organism or offspring.

⚫Here, the male gametes is sperm and female gamete is ovum.

⚫There are two types of fertilisation:- External fertilisation and Internal fertilisation.

⚫External fertilization takes place outside the body of female and internal fertilization takes place inside the body of female.

⚫During fertilization, the head of the sperm fertilize with ovum with its head first.

⚫Only one sperm reacts with ovum among millions of other sperms.

⚫The next stage of zygote is embryo.

⚫After being embryo, the body parts start developing and an organism is formed.
