★Fertilization is the process of fusion of a pollen grain and the ovary, giving rise to zygote. (Incase of Plants)

★Fertilization occurs after the events of pollination

Note:

Pollination is the process of transferring pollens from anther of a stamen to a pistil of a plant

Pollination is of two types:

1. Autogamy or self pollination:

Transfer of pollen grains from a stamen to the pistil of the same plant is known as Autogamy

2. Allogamy or Cross pollination:

Pollination between stamen and anther of different flower of the same plant or the different plant of the same species

Fertilization in Plants:

First of all,you need to know the parts of a pistil,

•Stigma

•Style

and •Ovary

With that out of the way,let us start:

When a pollen grain reaches the stigma,it forms a tubular structure called Pollen tube through which it reaches the ovary via style. On reaching the ovary,if fuses with the egg forming a zygote, after the occurrence of double fertilization and triple fusion. Zygotes eventually develops into a seed.

The action or process of fertilizing an egg or a female animal or plant, involving the fusion of male and female gametes to form a zygote.

Fertilization takes part in the ovary of a female flower. Wind or pollinators carry the pollen from the male anthers to the female flower parts. After the pollen lands on the stigma, a pollen tube forms, and male reproductive material travels down the style and into the ovary, where it fertilizes an ovule.
