Fleming left hand rule is a simple and accurate way to find the direction of force/motion of the conductor in an electricity motor when the magnetic field direction and the Current direction are known. It was originally developed by John Ambrose Fleming ,an English electricity engineer, in the 19th century.

Fleming's left hand rule :

The forefinger, the middle finger and the thumb of the left hand are stretched in mutually perpendicular directions. If the forefinger points in the direction of the magnetic field, the middle finger in the direction of current, then the thumb points in the direction of the force on the conductor.
