It an area near to river (adjacent to river) which is formed by sediment of flowing river near it.

What is floodplain?

Ans:- A long continued sediment deposition, alluvial plain are formed on both the banks. Such plains are called floodplain.

Floodplain are formed generally during flood , sand, mud and silt carried down by the river spread out to a long distance over the banks . The floodplain are fertile and suitable for cultivation.
