First of all, there is the stalk which supports the flower. Some flowers are without the stalk. The tip of the flower may be expanded to from a cup-shaped receptacles thalamus.
The floral parts are present on thalamus in four whorls:-
1.First whorl - green sepals(collectively known as calyx).
2.Second whorl- large brightly coloured petals(collectively known as corolla).
3.Third whorl- male parts known as androecium.
