What is fluid mosaic model.

The fluid mosaic model explains various observations regarding the structure of functional cell membranes. According to this model, there is a lipid bilayer in which the protein molecules are embedded. The lipid bilayer gives fluidity and elasticity to the membrane.

this is the model given by singer and Nicolson to define the structure of plasma membrane
it is also known as " protein iceberg floating in the sea of phospholipid "
it means plasma membrane is made up of lipid bilayer( hydrophobic) and protein( hydrophilic) present on it.
it explains the selectively permeability of membrane
