a fetus or foetus (more of an older spelling.. fetus is more often used these days) is a baby which is still developing in their mother's womb. In humans, a baby growing in the womb, is considered a "fetus" from about about 11 weeks (right after the "embryo" stage), up until the moment of birth, when they become considered a child.
