Any push or pull on an object which causes a change is called a force.

The effects of force are :

1. Force can change the speed of the object.
For example : A batsman hits the ball in the direction opposite or on side of the bat to change the speed by applying force.

2. Force can make an object move or change the position of rest.
For example :If we kick a stationary ball, it starts moving.

3. Force can bring change in the direction of motion of a moving object.

--) The state of motion of the object is described by stating it's speed and direction of motion. A change in speed of an object or it's direction or both is referred to as the change in motion of an object.
For example: If you allow a moving ball to hit the palm of your hand, a force exerted on ball changes it's direction of motion.

4. Force can change the shape or size of an object.
For example : If you squeeze a sponge, it's shape changes.
