A force is the change of state of an object due to external surroundings. Due to forces, an object will either be in a state of motion or will be resting. For example, consider a football placed on the ground motionless. To move the ball in any direction, you will have to apply some forces on the ball.

Force is a push or pull that changes or tends to change the state of rest or uniform motion of an object or changes the direction or shape of an object. It causes object to accelerate. The SI unit of force is Newton.

Examples of Forces:-

  • The normal force acts in a direction normal to the surface Interaction between object.
  • Friction is a force that opposes motion on surfaces.
  • Other examples of non-fundamental forces include the elastic force, tension, and frame-dependent forces, such as centrifugal force and the Coriolis force.
