The force applied on an object affect the movement of an object.  

• A force can make a stationary object move.  

• A force can stop a moving object.  

• A force can slow down a moving object.  

• A friction can slow things down or sometimes make things go faster because of the grip that it causes.  

Example:

• A soccer player uses force from his feet to change the direction of the ball.  

• The force of the wind keeps the sailboat moving.  

• The toy car travelled farther when the force applied was stronger.  

• A cyclist exert stronger force to pedal his bicycle faster.
