The Foreign Service Allowance (FSA) and Other Related Allowances are paid in foreign currency to the home-based staff serving in our diplomatic missions overseas, in addition to their monthly salary, so as to allow them to meet the cost of living and to have a standard of living compatible with their rank in the country of posting. These allowances vary depending upon the grade of the officer and the country of posting and are generally paid in the currency of the country of posting.
