What is forgo full concession and forgo 50 concession?

The Indian Railway has now given an option to the senior citizens for foregoing the concession on the purchase of reserved class tickets. This is to reduce its huge subsidy burden of the Indian economy.

If the Forgo concession option is chosen along with the Senior citizen option, the person will get 20% Concession only for a Male or Female Senior Citizen. It will be a partial discount, instead of the actual Senior citizen eligible concession of 50% for females and 40% for males.

If Forgo concession option is chosen and Senior citizen option is not chosen, then the person will have to pay for the ticket in full.

Indian Railways grant concession in the fares of trains to senior citizens. Men above 60 years and women above 58 years are eligible for concession. The rate of concession is 40% for men and 50% for women.

Senior citizen passengers who wish to opt out of the concession fully or partially in order to contribute towards the development of the nation can book their tickets without concession.

They can select 'Forgo Full Concession' option under the 'Option for Senior Citizen Concession' section of Passenger Details form to book tickets without senior citizen concession.

If they want to book tickets with 50% of Senior Citizen concession they can select 'Forgo 50% Concession' option under 'Option for Senior Citizen Concession' section.
