acidic oxides are formed
example
S +O2=SO2
SULPHUR reacts with oxygen giving sulphur dioxide.. which is hence acidic
metals give basic oxides
you can give the acid test for your answer
hope I made clear

non- metal have tendency to accept electrons. Let M is non-metal
then, M + xe----> M^-x
as you know ,
oxygen is also a non- metals .
according to Concept of covalent bonds: two non - metals make COVALENT bond after sharing of electrons .
e.g M+ O2 ---> M2On where n is valency of non- metals .
nature of M2On :-
when , M belongs to Halogen family :-
The acidic nature increases with increase in the percentage of oxygen .
e.g Cl₂O₇> Cl₂O₆> ClO₂ >Cl₂O
the acidic nature decreases when we go down the group .
similarly , acidic nature decreases in 14 , 15 , 16 group when we go down the group.
hence, nature of M2On depends upon nature of M when M is strong non-metal then M2On will strong acid and vice -versa
