A fosil fuel is a fuel formed by natural processes, such as anaerobic decomposition of buried dead organisms, containing energy originating in ancient photosynthesis. The age of the organisms and their resulting fossil fuels is typically millions of years, and sometimes exceeds 650 million years.

fossil fuels are formed from the decomposition of dead plants and animals that got burried deep under the earth million of years ago. the large amount of heat and pressure of overlying rocks converted this hydro carbons into fossil fuels. such as petroleum, coal and natural gas.
