It is called fractional distillation because it distribute the liquids into the fractions and separate out from the mixture....

The method to separate the liquids of a mixture having it's different boiling point and chemical consistency is known as fractional distillation...

Ex ___

Water and Petrol mixture.... In this water has low boiling point hence in this process water will soon vaporize and seperate our from petrol...
