fractional error is termed as the mean absolute error divided by the total mean quantity. If we wish to express the fractional error in terms of percent then we have to divide the fractional error by 100.

Let there be a1, a2, a3...an quantities.

The arithmetic mean (a mean)= (a1 + a2 + a3...an) / n

the errors would be:

Δa1 = a1 - a mean

Δa2 = a2 - a mean

and so on up till n terms.

Δa mean = (Δa1 + Δa2....+Δa3) / n

The fractional error will be = Δa mean / a mean.

Percent fractional error = Δa mean / a mean
